Chances are, if you're reading this, I've invited you to take part in my social Minecrafting Experiment. Otherwise, you've stumbled on this page through blind, dumb luck. In this case ... I'd like to invite you to take part in my social Minecraft Experiment anyway!
:)
Ever see that thing they do on US TV where kids in school have a class pet, and someone has to take it home on weekends? Think of this like that, but for AN ENTIRE WORLD!
The system is pretty simple. You'll need:
- A weekend (mostly) free.
- Minecraft.
- Some kind of capture software, preferably video, and preferably something to compress it to a useable/uploadable size.
When you sign up to the experiment, we will arrange a weekend when you plan to play a lot of Minecraft.
Prior to this weekend, you will be emailed a Minecraft save file, and given access to a dropbox folder or similar shared space.
You spend the weekend however you please in the game - destroy, build, mine to your heart's content.
I must have the save file emailed back to me by a reasonable time Sunday night/Monday morning!
You'll get a little extra time to compress/convert video. When I have video/pictures/a report of your experiences, I'll update the blog accordingly.
I might edit in or out surprises as we go - I haven't really decided the best form of presentation just yet (hence the "experiment" part of the title) but I'm to adverse to being imaginative and creative with the format. I suspect I might not publicise who has had the save file each week - it'll be up to you if you want to tell people about it.
Other than that, have fun, experiment, and be free - who knows where this will take us?
